Religious and Spiritual Support

There are chaplains from various Christian traditions in the hospital every day during normal office hours (except Saturday) and there is a chaplain available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for emergencies and those in urgent need. We also have a trained pastoral team who visit the wards every week. We have good contacts with the local community and further afield and can contact local faith community leaders or anyone else who you would wish to come and give you the support you are looking for.

Patient and Family Liaison Services

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) offers support, information and assistance to patients, relatives and visitors.

PALS will:
• Provide information about hospital services.
• Offer advice on where to go to get health information.
• Help with problems that you haven’t been able to sort out with staff on a ward or in a clinic.
• If you want to make a complaint - advise you how to do so.
• Tell you about independent organisations that can help you with a complaint.
• Listen to your views on how we can improve our services, and pass this on to the appropriate people for action.
